My UK proofs have arrived!
Today was the very first time I held my book in my hands…which is a pretty mad feeling to be honest!
It was especially exciting because the lovely team at Serpent’s Tail sent these to me a month ago, and I was convinced the copies had been lost in the post. London is a long way from South Australia, and the handover between Royal Mail and Australia Post hasn’t always proven to be successful (opinions my own!)
I’ve been working on Wild Ground since the start of 2019, and have read the finished version countless (too, too many) times…but actually holding all 108,528 words in the form of a book hits different somehow.
I’m going to resist reading it again, because I know I’ll pick it apart. So instead I’ll just gaze at the cover for a while (which I can’t claim any credit for and am absolutely delighted with) and wait anxiously until it hits the shelves!
Here’s to the next part of the journey…
